Game Start Solace forces thought they’d been smart and set up a large broadcast aerial to mask their presence: that made it difficult for the Slammers, even with their extensive electronic surveillance, to be able to pinpoint either the exact location of their HQ building or the location of infantry or even AFVs that weren’t in direct line of site. The Slammers approached from two different directions as they had no idea where their opponents were holed up. One regular detachment came in from the west with the infantry and hog team and the other three detachments came in from the east. By turn two they’d seen no movement as their opponents were building up LPs by briefing their people. What the Slammers were quite careful about was taking time to blow any and every parked car. This meant that the Solace forces cunning plan – setting off IEDs by drawing a random mine chit from a container – was entirely ineffective. Seems the Slammers had read too many books on Fallujah... By turn three the Solace poped a detachment from the Industrial Compound in the west. This caught some Slammers and they killed some infantry on skimmers but mostly fell fowl of superior firepower. Although the Solace Regulars unit had weapons that would take out a combat car (just) they couldn’t touch the unarmoured cars or the tanks as they had left their buzzbomb teams in the centre of town to (hopefully) get some downwards fire on some tanks (avoiding the defensive systems).
The Slammers were blowing all vehicles on the road at a safe distance - very sensible! Slammers start taking hits Solace Veterans move out from the Residential Compound The aerial that was jamming the Slammers signals
