A Mini-Campaign game - Apex Dragoons v Solace Regulars

As it was an Objective Game, we made a final die roll and I was rather pleased to be the loser and therefore defender of the Objective. Jim, as the winner, had to attack from either (or both) of the two edges and he chose to use both. I set up my three detachments in and around the buildings within the stipulated 50cm of the objective and the game started. My three detachment mixed force warranted a Colonel or Special Leader commanding them and I chose Colonel Priamedes (LV10 and Elite Skill: A Shaper of Men) and then two others underneath (a Captain and a Lieutenant). All three had Insurance Sergeants (meaning that - in the event of their death - the leadership values of the commanders would be retained by their 2IC). Jim’s Apex force had a Major and a Captain, both also with Insurance Sergeants. My excellent leader meant that my best squadron won initiative in the first turn and moved into an attacking position just outside of the main area of higher buildings and to the side of where the Freedom Fighters had set up a road block of their Air Trucks across the main route into town. The Solace ‘Elite’ opened fire and gave casualties to the Apex Dragoon Detachment but the damage was just too little with ony one vehicle destroyed and another one damaged severly and so the Apex forces rolled on. Both Apex detachments moved and fired next causing casualties to the Solace attack vehicles: the heavy guns of the Apex Tank destroyers were particularly effective (although even the hypersonic missile secondary weapons were quite efficient against the vehicle targets).
